We first met William Townshend back in 2011 when we were both in college. He was a member of our community and I was studying abroad in Oxford, England. We were both interested in learning about the world, but our classes would never really get anywhere unless we each put in the time. That’s when William came into the picture, and we became fast friends. We have been talking about working together ever since.

William is not your typical college student. He’s a self-proclaimed “nerd.” He’s also a self-proclaimed “nutter,” meaning he’s constantly on the move. In a couple weeks he plans to leave for the south of Spain with his girlfriend, and they are setting off on a cruise. We have a sense of urgency that makes us want to get to these events before they do.

In the meantime, we’re meeting up with a group of four friends from the internet. Like many of you, we’ve been playing the internet games known as ‘The World of Warcraft.’ The group of gamers came to a point where we just couldn’t stand to be in the same room with each other. So we decided to work together, which means we’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

We are playing the game of our dreams, with our friends. We are all so into it, we want to be the best. We want to be the best. But we are all so different. I am the guy who can do everything, and I am the guy who is so out of it. The guy who has never played the game before. The guy who has never set foot on a plane. The guy who is on a cruise with no destination.

I think the best way to describe the difference between you and me is to call me William. I am the guy who can do everything, but I am also the guy who is so out of it. So I’ve come to terms with this, and I am in a constant state of “will I do this?”. I’m the guy who can do everything, but I am also the guy who is so out of it.
