I am a self-aware, well-read and well educated person who has learned a lot about myself and other people as the result of studying psychology and philosophy. In this paper I will explain a few of the ways in which I am aware of my surroundings, what I am thinking, and how I am feeling.
To be clear, I don’t mean to suggest that everyone who studies psychology or philosophy will be aware of such things. I mean that you can be aware of your own thoughts, feelings, and reactions and not notice it. While this is obviously not a big deal, it can be disorienting, even disturbing. Of course, being aware of your surroundings and your own thoughts is what being self-aware is all about.
This is one of those things that most people are fairly aware of and are very aware of what they are doing. But how often do you see someone who is not self-aware? And what I mean by that is, are they aware of their actions and not noticing they are doing them? They may think they are doing something that is going to make them better at it, but I bet that they are actually doing something completely different.
The main problem with not self-awareness is that it’s also a major obstacle to being a successful human being. We don’t get to see the big picture because we are so busy doing the things that make us successful. We don’t get to see how our life is going to be in three months because we are busy working on our mortgage. But you can see the big picture. A small percentage of our lives are spent on autopilot.
Self-awareness is just the ability to notice our own insecurities and own up to them. Just like when you get a haircut you can tell the great difference between a new haircut vs a regular haircut, but you can also tell the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut.
The point here is that you can’t be afraid to take care of yourself. You can only be afraid of that which you can’t control. That’s why I tell people that it’s often best to focus on what you can control. For example, I recently saw a woman who had been eating healthy and exercising for a long time, but just realized it was time to take a break. So she took a break from her diet and exercise.
The point of this article is that a lot of people worry about their looks. It’s silly and it’s easy to get caught up in the idea that if you’re not trim it’s because you’re lazy, or have bad genetics. That was not the case here. She took the time to find out why cutting it was making her feel that way.
The point is that even if your weight is causing you to feel self-conscious, it is not necessarily the reason for it. It is, however, a good idea to eat healthy food, not because it will make you look trim, but because it will also make you feel healthy, which is actually really important for your mental health. Because after all, that is what makes us feel alive.
