In the video below you can see someone explaining self-awareness to an audience of women, and I feel he’s doing a great job. In any case, I’d recommend checking out Benton Smith’s book. It’s not just a good book – it’s a great talk.
I wish I could say that this was all I needed to know to achieve self-awareness. I know I’m still way behind on finding ways to create a more self-aware world for myself. But yeah, I think Benton Smith is way more than just a speaker and consultant. I’m a huge fan of self-awareness and its impact on society, but I always feel like there’s too much emphasis on it.
Its about time. I’m in a place where I feel like I’m having to force myself to go through the motions every day. For some reason, it seems like it is always the motions that I need to force to be done. I have a problem with the “I’m so busy” excuse. Maybe in a later post, but right now I’m just ready for another chance to do more of what I love.
We’ve got a new speaker and consultant at our office in Austin, TX, so I’ve picked a couple of ways to encourage self-awareness. One is to read some of the books I mentioned earlier. (I’ve also got a new book coming out in the next few months.) The other is to try and get one of the speakers to talk about their own experiences with self-awareness. (I’ve also got a new book coming out in the next few months.
All this talk about self-awareness is getting me thinking about my own personal self-awareness. I am trying to figure out what I am doing that I am doing that doesn’t seem to be working. We don’t often think of ourselves as being able to change our actions, but I think there is a reason why we do, and what to do about it.
Self-awareness is the ability to know who we are and what we are doing, and what we are not doing. If we are able to acknowledge our behavior, we can move forward and become aware of what we need to change to get things right.
Self-awareness is a lot like a mirror. It reflects the things that we are doing and then we can see what we have done in our own mirror. Self-awareness is the ability to see how different things look from the inside. If we can see things from the inside, we can see ourselves from the inside.
